The 25MW Floating Solar PV Project developed on the raw water reservoir of NTPC Simhadri Super Thermal Power Project is the Largest Floating Solar Power Project in India. To develop the floating solar industry, NTPC took a lead in suo-moto development of floating solar PV projects without any firm tie-up for off-take of power. The Project was awarded to M/s BHEL in 2019 under EPC development model. The unique anchoring system undertaken at the project is first of its kind in the country and was finalised after series of discussions with M/s BHEL and its design consultants. The power from the project is now being sold to various beneficiaries of NTPC Simhadri Super Thermal Power Project under the flexibilization scheme of Govt. of India.
